Eighteen

By Pamela

"Oooh.." Buffy moaned as Angel softly bit her earlobe. He began kissing down her neckline, then sucking lightly on her neck.

Buffy giggled and rolled them over on his bed, so that she was straddling his waist, and sat up.

Angel let out a little whine of protest. "What did you do that for?!"

"Do you really think it’s a good idea for my father and grandfather to see a huge hickey on my neck? As it is, you made me take
off my ring!"

"Good point." Angel replied, pulling her head down for a kiss. Buffy complied, then began unbuttoning Angel’s shirt.

Angel reluctantly pulled her hands away from him. "Buff, as much as I hate to say it, we better not. Your dad is going to get to
your house…"

"In about 45 minutes, we have time for a quickie." Buffy grinned. Her cycle had just ended a few days earlier, and she was horny as hell. Angel needed to loosen up anyway. Her father was driving down from LA for her birthday party that night, just to spend the night. Her grandfather was also coming in, Angel and Buffy had been handed the job of picking him up at the
airport later that evening. While Buffy looked forward to a week with her maternal grandfather, Angel felt nothing but dread, so Buffy felt the need to make him relax.

Angel returned her grin. "Well, if you insist.."

"Oh I do." Buffy replied, as she peeled his shirt off of his chest.

Angel sat up to help her remove it the rest of the way. Buffy got a wicked smile on her face and pushed him back down. She quickly unbuttoned his pants and yanked them- along with his boxers- down his legs. She moved back up his body and straddled his waist again. With a passion-filled gaze, she pulled her tight tank top off, letting her breasts free. Angel
immediately cupped them both with his hands, the pads of his finger tracing soft circles on her nipples, teasing them to tautness.

Buffy was soon shaking with desire. Her hands moved to the hem of her skirt, inching it up over her hips. Pulling the crotch of her panties to the side, she quickly sheathed his erection inside her tight warmth, a gasp escaped her mouth, followed by a content smile. Angel moaned and thrust his hips up. Buffy moved her hands to his shoulders so that she could get more leverage
as she lifted her hips, only to grind back down on him. Their bodies worked against each other; pulling apart, hen slamming back together. Buffy soon found herself clinging to Angel as her body was wracked with orgasm.

Angel slowed his thrusts until his hips weren’t even leaving the bed, just casually moving up and down. He smiled up at his lover, a slight sheen of sweat covering her forehead as she came back down to earth.

Once she had gotten her bearings, Buffy returned the smile and slowly began moving her pelvis in a circular motion. Angel slid his hands up and down the sides of her thighs, then rested them on her hips.

Buffy leaned over so that she was lying against his chest, she placed her hands on either side of Angel’s face and guided his face to hers, kissing him deeply. Angel moved his hands from her hips, to lightly stroke her back, thrusting inside her a little more urgently as his body sought release. He grabbed her thighs and tightly pulled her closer to him.

"Buffy!" he called, as he exploded inside her. The feel of him orgasming beneath her and inside her was enough to send Buffy over the edge as well.

They both collapsed on the bed, with Buffy on top. Panting, Buffy looked up at the clock.

"Yuck. We better hurry." She said, wrinkling her nose.

Angel kissed her once more. "Will you love me if your father hates me?"

Buffy smiled. "He’s not going to hate you! And even if he did, it wouldn’t matter to me. *I* love you. *I* want to marry you. My father better not want to spend the rest of his life in your arms!"

Angel laughed. "Damn, you found out our secret!"

Buffy grinned and kissed his nose, then got up, reluctantly removing him from her.

Angel groaned and got up as well, picking up his boxers and pants. Buffy straightened her skirt and looked around, confused.

"Do you remember where my top is?"

Buffy squealed as she and Angel pulled up in front of her house.

"Daddy is here!" she exclaimed, jumping out of the 4Runner.

Angel unenthusiastically followed. "Oh joy, Daddy."

Buffy practically skipped halfway to the door, then stopped and turned, impatiently motioning for Angel to hurry up. When he finally reached her side, she grabbed his hand and practically dragged him inside.

"Don’t worry Angel, we get to leave in an hour to go pick up Grandpa." Buffy told him, then in an excited tone, she called "Dad?"

Hank Summers appeared from the kitchen. "Hi Sweetheart!"

Buffy let go of Angel’s hand and launched herself in her father’s arms. Hank swung Buffy in a circle, hugging her tightly.

Her fiancée stood off to the side, not sure what to do. Joyce and Giles soon left the kitchen as well. Joyce gave Angel a reassuring smile; Giles just looked annoyed.

Hank put Buffy down and grinned at her. "You seem even more beautiful Princess!"

Buffy giggled. "Oh Daddy, I missed you so much."

"I know, I missed you too. I’m sorry I couldn’t be here for your birthday Honey."

"That’s okay, I understand, it was in the middle of the week. The point is, it’s my part day and you are here.

"Why don’t we go sit in the living room?" Joyce suggested, grabbing
both Giles and Angel’s arms and dragged them along with her as they
followed Hank and Buffy.

"Oh oops!" Buffy grinned. "Dad, I totally forgot! This is Angel!"

Angel smiled nervously at Hank as Buffy moved to his side.

"Nice to meet you Angel." Hank greeted, holding his hand out.

Apprehensively, Angel reached out his own hand and shook Hank’s.
"It’s nice to meet you too Mr. Summers; Buffy has told me a lot about
you."

"You’re Buffy’s boyfriend?" Hank asked delicately.

Angel and Buffy looked at each other, uncertain of what to say. They
had planned on telling Hank sometime this weekend, they just weren’t
sure when.

"Um… well… actually…" Buffy started, but was interrupted by the sound
of someone honking their horn quite loudly outside. Joyce looked out
the window.

"There is a purple sports car with a big red bow on it parked in front
of our house." Joyce told them, before walking over to the front
door, followed by the rest of the group.

An elderly man jumped out of the car. "Joyce!"

"Dad, what is going on? Your plane isn’t supposed to be here for
three hours."

Realizing this was his new father-in-law, all of the color drained
from Giles’ face; Angel just felt relief over being saved by this man,
if only temporarily. He noticed, almost with amusement, that Hank
groaned when he saw who had arrived.

Buffy had an even bigger grin on her face. "Grandpa!"

"I wanted to surprise you two!" Truman Evans replied, hugging his
granddaughter as she ran up to him.

Joyce sighed and walked up to her father, hugging him as well. "It’s
good to see you Dad. How did you get in? Where did you get that car?"

Truman grinned. "I flew in early this morning, my friend Ronnie
picked me up at the airport."

"Why didn’t you call Hank? He could have driven in with you?" Joyce
asked.

Hank grumbled something under his breath. Truman looked over at him.

"Hank." He said, in a not-so-jovial voice.

"Hello Truman." Hank replied, in an equally cool voice.

Giles noticed, not without amusement, Joyce’s father’s obvious
distaste for his former son-in-law.

Truman turned his head back to his daughter. "I couldn’t have caught
a ride with Hank because then I couldn’t have brought my
granddaughter’s gift for her!" he told her, gesturing to the car
behind him.

Buffy gasped. "You mean…. that’s… for me?"

Truman smiles and held up the keys. "That’s right. It’s a 1999
Saturn SC2, with the third door, I figured that would be nice for when
you go places with your friends."

Buffy squealed and hugged him, grabbed the keys and ran to the car.
Truman laughed and followed her, at a much slower pace.

"He got her a car?" Joyce, Giles, Hank, and Angel all asked in
unison. They were in total shock. The thought of Buffy driving
struck fear in all their hearts.

The site of Buffy hopping in the driver’s seat shook Joyce out of her
reverie. "Hey! What do you two think you’re doing?"

"Oh come on Joyce, I promised Buffy she could take her car for a
spin." Truman told her as he got in the passenger seat.

The engine soon started up.

"Whoa whoa whoa, you wait a second." Joyce ordered, knocking on the
driver’s side window.

Buffy pushed the button and the window rolled down. She grinned at
her mother.

"Hey Mom, isn’t this cool?"

"Yes, wonderful." Joyce replied, without enthusiasm. "Turn it off,
you seem to have forgotten about that silly little thing called a
license."

Truman leaned over. "Oh come on Joyce, let her have a little fun!
I’ll be in the car with her!"

"They do let unlicensed people drive.. when they have permits!" Joyce
told him.

"Aww, come on! Let us have fun!" her father persisted.

"Please?" Buffy begged.

Joyce sighed. "What if you wreck your brand new car?"

"She won’t, have a little faith."

"Yeah Mom, have faith in me!"

Joyce contemplated for a moment, then stood back up and yelled "Angel!"

Angel, who had been staying back on the porch with Giles and Hank,
walked tensely toward her.

"I want you to go with them." Joyce told him.

"With Buffy driving?" Angel asked nervously.

Joyce nodded. "She probably won’t kill you."

Angel sighed. "Okay."

Buffy and Truman cheered.

"Here, Angel, use the third door!" Buffy told him.

Angel complied, making sure to buckle his seat belt as soon as he sat
down.

"Grandpa, this is Angel."

Truman turned around. "So, you’re the fellow that has my
granddaughter’s heart, eh?"

Angel smiled apprehensively. "Nice to meet you Sir."

"Nervous?" Truman asked.

Buffy rolled her eyes. "Everybody has to drive for the first time!
You drove for the first time once Angel."

"I know, that is why I’m scared."

Truman laughed. "I like this guy! He’s a lot better than they guy
your mother brought home from college one weekend."

"What was he like?" Buffy asked.

"Oh, you know him, it’s your father." Truman told her, a grin on his
face.

Buffy sighed, her grandfather was famous for his… distaste, for her
father.

"Okay, quick driving lesson. Is your seat adjusted well? Can you see
out of your rearview and your sideview mirrors."

A little adjusting, and Buffy gave him a thumbs up. As she was about
to put the car in gear, Truman stopped her.

"Don’t forget the most important thing Buffy."

"What?" she asked.

"Pick a good station on the radio!"

Buffy and Truman laughed, while Angel just sat in the back, rubbing
his sweaty palms on his legs.

A moment later, the remaining adults stood on the front lawn and saw
the car pull away with a jerk.

They all said a little prayer.

"That was so fun!" Buffy exclaimed as she walked in the house,
followed by Truman and Angel- who had to admit that Buffy didn’t do
that bad for her first time. Sure, she drove a bit fast, and she
jerked, but overall she was doing fairly well.

Hank, Joyce and Giles sat in the living room calmly, as though they
hadn’t been glued to the front room window just seconds before.

"It went well?" Joyce smiled.

"Buffy is a natural!" Truman replied proudly.

Hank grinned at Giles. "She gets that from me."

"What are you talking about?" Truman blurted out. "I distinctly
remember you accidentally putting the car in drive instead of reverse
when you were in the garage, you put a huge hole in the wall."

"Well except for that." Hank answered quietly.

"Can I try to get my permit Monday?" Buffy asked.

"We’ll see." Joyce told her, getting up. "I need to work on dinner,
why don’t the five of you talk? This way Hank and Dad can get to know
Angel and Giles."

"Oh good." Angel said unenthusiastically.

Buffy sat next to her father on the couch, Angel sat next to her, and
Truman flopped down in an easy chair across from the chair Giles was
seated in.

"I’m sorry I missed your birthday Princess." Hank told his daughter.

"That’s okay, it was in the middle of the week, I know you have to
work, the point is, you’re here now." Buffy smiled. "I loved the
presents!"

"Do the clothes fit all right? Your mother told me the size. She
said that is what you’d want the most, I know it’s not a car…" Hank
said, giving Truman a pointed look.

"I loved them. Angel actually bought me half karat diamond earrings!
I’m too nervous that something will happen to wear them!" Buffy
replied. "Oh, yeah, look at what Giles and Mom got me." She showed
him a sliver heart locket with a baby picture of herself.

"It’s beautiful Sweetie."

Giles beamed proudly. "I saw it and showed it to Joyce!"

The room fell into silence again. Angel silently prayed that the
topic of his relationship with Buffy wouldn’t come up.

"So how long have you kids been together?" Truman asked.

Angel groaned inwardly.

"Oh, well, we have known each other for almost two years, but we
didn’t start seriously dating until about last September. We did date
a bit before, though. Kind of an off and on thing."

Angel just nodded his head in agreement.

"So, are you two planning on getting married sometime soon?" Truman
grinned.

The color drained from both Buffy and Angel’s face. Buffy forced a
laugh and nudged Angel to join her. Angel attempted, but failed
miserably.

"Actually Giles and Mom have some news of their own." Buffy told him,
trying desperately to change the subject.

Giles looked like a deer caught in headlights. There was only one
thing to do.

"Joyce!" he yelled at the top of his lungs.

Joyce rushed out of the kitchen. "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing." Giles told her, gritting his teeth in an attempt to smile.
"Buffy just felt now was the best time to tell everyone about our
news."

Buffy smiled apologetically.

"Oh, well.." Joyce said, sitting on the arm of Giles’ chair. "It’s a
big surprise…. I’m pregnant!"

Hanks jaw dropped, while Truman jumped up.

"That’s great!" he cheered. "Your mother will be so sad she missed
this trip to go on that bus tour with the church group!"

As everyone’s focus moved to Joyce and the baby, Angel leaned over and
whispered in Buffy’s ear. "Honey, you’re a genius."

Buffy smiled. Everything would work out. It had to.

"I wish you guys would stay for when we tell Dad and grandpa. The
more people present, the less likely it is that my dad will kill me,
or Angel."

"I think it’s best as a fam deal." Oz told her.

"Where is your dad?" Willow asked as she and Oz sat on the couch.
Xander hopped into the easy chair sideways.

"Mom sent him to go get soda at the store or something. He and Giles
were getting in her way." Buffy told them. "It’s kind of cute that
they’re fighting over her."

"Where’s Porcupine-hair?" Xander smirked.

Buffy rolled her eyes. "Angel locked himself in the bathroom, he’s a
nervous wreck about telling everyone tonight. Don’t bother him Xander."

Xander feigned an innocent look. "I never would!"

Buffy sighed again. "Hey, if you guys want a quick laugh, go look out
back. Grandpa has him back there looking at some bushes. Apparently
Giles needs gardening tips."

Angel walked slowly into the room. Buffy smiled and rushed to his side.

"Hi Sweetie! Feel better?"

Angel nodded and looked around the room. "Hey guys."

Oz nodded at him, while Willow smiled and said "Don’t worry Angel,
we’re here to support you."

"Yeah, Cordy would have been, but support is against her moral being."
Xander joked.

"Actually, her aunt is visiting so she had a family thing." Willow
explained.

Soon after Giles, Truman, and Joyce joined them; Buffy introduced her
grandfather to her friends, and they immediately hit it off. For once
that day, everyone was relaxed, even Angel.

Joyce glanced at her watch. "Where is Hank? We were supposed to have
cake half an hour ago!"

"He probably got lost," Truman quipped. "the man couldn’t find his
way out of a paper bag."

"Dad!"

All of a sudden the front door opened and Hank walked in.

"There you are! I was wondering about you!" Joyce told him.

Hank had one hand behind his bag as he set the bag with the bottles of
soda down on a table. "Sorry, I had to run an extra errand, I had a
great gift idea for Buffy."

"You didn’t have to get me anything else!"

"I wanted to. Close your eyes."

Buffy smiled and closed her eyes. Hank pulled his hand out from
behind his back, all anyone could see was a bundle of black fur.

"Open them." He smiled.

Buffy opened her eyes and gasped. "A kitty!"

Hank chuckled as he handed her the kitten. "I remember you always
wanted on when you were little, I figure better late than never."

"You bought her a kitten?" Joyce asked in disbelief. First a car,
now a kitten; how did all the men in her life manage to lose their
minds at the same time?

"What should I name him?" Buffy asked, as she held the kitten up to
her chest.

They had just finished the cake and everyone was sitting around the
table talking.

"I haven’t the slightest idea, whatever you like." Angel told her.

"I know!" Xander exclaimed. "Angel Junior!"

Angel glared at Xander.

"Oh that is cute! We could call him AJ!"

"Honey please don’t name your cat after me."

Buffy sighed. "Fine."

Hank looked over and asked "So Angel, you’re an art buyer for Joyce?"

"Yeah, I like art, so it’s a great job for me."

"Snaggletooth!" Buffy exclaimed.

Everyone at the table stopped and looked over at her. In unison, they
asked. "What?"

"I’m naming him Snaggletooth!"

"Oh.. well that’s nice dear…" Joyce said.

"What does it mean?" Willow asked.

Buffy shrugged. "I just like it."

Xander looked at his watch. "Uh.. we better go."

"Oh wow, it’s late." Willow said. "It was nice meeting you Mr. Evans."

"Oh you too Willow."

"Later." Was all Oz said, keeping true to his quiet musician reputation.

"Bye Angel!" Xander said gleefully, reveling in Angel’s terror.

The four teens got up and walked to the door.

"Wish me luck." Buffy said.

"It’ll be fine!" Willow told her as she followed the guys out. "Call
me tomorrow."

"Okay." Buffy replied as she shut the door. She snuggle Snaggletooth
to her chest. "I *so* need luck!"

She rejoined the adults in the dining room and took her seat next to
Angel.

Truman yawned. "I think I better turn in."

Joyce touched his arm. "Oh, just a few minutes Dad, Buffy has
something important to say."

Buffy looked extremely nervous all of a sudden. "Uh… thanks for the
cool car?"

"Buffy…" Joyce said, sternly.

Buffy sighed. "Okay."

Angel grabbed her hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

"Angel and I are… we’re um… we are going to…"

"I asked Buffy to marry me, and she said yes."

"We’re engaged."

Hank’s jaw dropped to the floor. Angel looked from him to Truman,
trying to see which one would explode first.

After a second, Truman smiled. "Well I think it’s great news! Your
grandmother is going to be so upset she missed this! Joyce pregnant
and Buffy engaged! Things sure are exciting here!"

Buffy smiled at him. "I’m glad you’re happy. Dad?"

After a moment, Hank spoke. "Buffy, you just turned eighteen. You’re
very young. I know you don’t feel that way, but you are."

Buffy looked down. "I know that, but we love each other."

"Are you pregnant?"

"No!" Buffy replied, offended.

"I’m sorry Buffy, I just don’t see why you have to get married now."

"We’re getting married in June." She told him quietly.

"What about college? You got wonderful SAT scores, don’t tell me you
aren’t going to college."

"I can go and be married." Buffy answered.

"I promise you Sir, I love Buffy with all my heart, I’ll do anything
for her. I want her to go to school, I’ll support her with whatever
she decides." Angel told him.

Hank nodded. "I think I need to sleep on this. Can we discuss this
tomorrow?"

"That sounds like a good idea. We will all have had a good night’s
rest and we’ll have had some time to think about the idea." Giles said.

Buffy walked Angel to the door, looking at him with worried eyes.

"Buffy, I think he took it pretty well." He told her. "He just needs
a little time. I think it’ll be better tomorrow."

"I hope you’re right." She replied, reaching up to kiss him.

"I love you."

"I love you too. Drive careful!"

Angel smiled briefly and was out the door. Buffy watched him enter
his car before she shut and locked it behind him.

"Okay, I’m still not crazy about the whole idea, but I don’t think you
two are just romanticizing the whole marriage thing. I want to
believe you are genuinely in love." Hank told them. "And I do think
that Buffy is awful young, and you do seem maybe a bit too old for
her, but Joyce approves and she’s the one who is here. She would know
best, so I am going to just trust her judgment."

Buffy smiled and hugged her father. "Oh I’m so happy you approve!"

Angel smiled at her, so happy that she was happy. Truman walked up
next to him and spoke softly.

"He’s a jerk, but he is her father, so she loves him. In my opinion,
I think Buffy is worth it, but you’ll regret him being your
father-in-law more than once in your life."

Angel smiled at the man he grew to like more and more.

"Well, I better get going." Hank said, giving his daughter a kiss on
the cheek. "You be good."

"I will Daddy! I love you!"

"Bye Buffy." Hank shook Angel’s hand. "Bye Angel."

"Good bye Mr. Summers."

Hank gave his ex-wife a small hug. "Bye Joyce. Nice meeting you
Rupert. You take care of them."

"I always do." Giles answered, a genuine smile on his face for once.
After all, he was getting rid of the dreaded ex.

"Truman." Hank nodded to his former father-in-law.

Hank left for LA, with a promise to be back sometime before June, when
he would be walking his daughter down the aisle.

"I feel a million times better!" Buffy grinned as she and Angel sat
on the bench on the porch, Snaggletooth in her lap.

"Me too! I can’t believe it! I’ll live to see our wedding day!"
Angel laughed.

Buffy smiled and pulled her ring out of her pocket, placing it back on
her finger where it belonged.

Grinning, she leaned over and kissed her fiancée. "The birthday
fiasco is over!"

"Phew!"
