DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" characters or situations (I will even give my story ideas to Joss in exchange for a day on the set). I wrote this purely for entertainment and not at all for profit.

She sat on the covered toilet, leaning over, staring at the plastic stick in her hand, especially at the pink plus sign on the stick.

Plus.

Positive.

Pregnant.

When a woman has a baby, and she and the father love each other and want to spend their lives together, isn't that supposed to be a blessed occasion?

"I never did have good timing." She laughed sadly to herself.

What was she doing? Even now in the 90's, where 14 year olds and 54 year olds had kids, she was still going to get looks from people when she was big as a house.

Disapproving looks.

As much as she told herself that other people didn't matter, they did. Especially people that she loved. What would they say? She doubted anyone would be jumping for joy. She, herself, wasn't; how could she expect anyone else to?

Brushing an errant strand of blonde hair out of her eyes, she got up and stood in front of the mirror, hating the way she looked when she frowned.

Joyce continued to stare at her reflection and said "You got yourself into this mess. You are 43 years old. Last week you married your 18-year-old vampire slayer daughter's watcher, and you are now carrying his child. He is moving in tomorrow, and four of Buffy's friends are coming over to help. You have to focus and get through one thing at a time, once Rupert is settled, you tell him."

Joyce turned away from the mirror sighing. She had to give herself pep talks every once in a while to get herself going. Now she had to take care of things. First of all Buffy, poor thing was sick as a dog with the flu and couldn't keep a thing down.
