Summary: Leaving a Message isn't always a good thing for a relationship.

Buffy awoke slowly, the sun streaming on her face. She shifted onto her
stomach, in attempt to go back to sleep, the silk of the sheets rubbed
against her as she slid toward Angel's side of the bed. When she didn't feel
him nearby, Buffy opened her eyes, and sat up into a sitting position;
holding the sheets to her chest. She looked around the bedroom, in search of
her love, she noticed that the curtain in front of the sliding door that led
to the balcony were moving slightly, as though the wind were moving it.
Buffy grabbed Angel's black silk shirt off the floor and slipped it over her
body. While buttoning the shirt halfway, she walked over to the balcony door
and found the door about half a foot ajar.
Buffy slid it open more and stepped onto the balcony. When she saw him,
leaning against the rail, Buffy smiled slightly.

Angel leaned on the rail of the balcony, watching the sun shine above the
city. He'd woken up 20 minutes ago, and couldn't fall back asleep, he didn't
want to awake Buffy, so he pulled on a pair of pants, and came out; to get
some fresh air. Angel felt a tingle go up his spine, and a smile crept on
his face, there was only one person, who could charge that type of feeling in
him. Angel turned around, and gathered her in his arms.

Buffy was a little startled by his movements, but it passed just as quickly
as he held her in his arms.
She gazed deeply in his eyes. "Morning Love."

Angel smiled, he gently traced the curve of her jaw before kissing her
breathless. He pulled away when they both needed to breath. "Did you sleep
well?"

Buffy nodded her head, before laying her head on Angel's chest, enjoying the
feel of his heartbeat. Nothing was said between them, with words; everything
they wanted to say to each other was spoken through a bond, built on love and
trust.

His arms tightened around her, her small frame fit his body perfectly, and
just wanted to hold her for an eternity. The phone in the bedroom began to
ring, neither one wanted there moment to end, so they decided to let the
answering machine pick it up.....

*Beep*

"Angel this is Giles', I was just reminding you, that I need you to come
translate some volumes for me, see you later."

*Beep*

Angel exhaled annoyingly, he had completely forgotten about it, and now he
couldn't spend all day with Buffy, like he had planned. "I have to go."

Buffy frowned slightly, but smiled and nodded her head. She took his hand
and led him back into their bedroom. She let him get dressed, while she made
plans with Willow over the phone; no point in her staying home, since she
couldn't get some honey time with Angel; she wanted some girl time with
Willow.
Angel kissed her with a longing, before leaving and made his way to Giles'
place.

Buffy sighed, every time she was even a moment away from Angel, she felt
empty; like something was missing, and couldn't help but miss him
tremendously. Looking at the clock, she remembered that she was supposed to
be getting ready; maybe the shopping spree would take her mind of the ache
she was feeling.

Willow and Buffy walked in to the flat, carrying 4 to 5 shopping bags in each
hand. The girls had a great time bonding at the local mall, college was on
break, now that the students had finished midterms and it was just happy fun
time. Everything was how it should be, Buffy had Angel, and great friends;
nothing could be better.

Willow shut the door behind her. "So what are you gonna do while the week is
out?"

Buffy placed her bags on the couch, and started sifting through them. "After
the hell that is called midterms is over, I can just relax.

Willow raised an eyebrow. "Well, when Angel sees some of the things you
bought, I don't think 'relax' will be in his vocabulary."

Buffy shrugged and smiled evilly. "That's not a bad thing." She said, walking
over to the answering machine, pressing playback.

*Beep*

"Buffy, it's Mom, just calling to say hello; call me back OK."

*Beep*

Willow and Buffy were about to go into the kitchen, until the next message
played.....

"Angel...It's Kate, I just wanted to say thank you for the other night, it was
just what I needed to get the job done. [laughter in her voice) It was
Wonderful of you, hope to see you again, maybe tomorrow night; call me."

*Beep*

Buffy rushed to the machine, and pressed rewind, she glanced at Willow who
had the same confused look on her face. Clearing her throat, Buffy walked
back toward the kitchen. "You still hungry?"

"Buffy." Willow said, grabbing her arm. "Your thinking exactly what I'm
thinking." Willow looked at her sadly, remembering how she felt when she
found Oz with Veruca.

"No, I trust Angel." Pulling her arm away. "I'll just ask Angel who Kate is
and that'll be the end of it."

Willow nodded and let the conversation end, but in their thoughts, it wasn't
the end of it. Willow hoped it wasn't what she was thinking, and Buffy
didn't know what to think. All she knows is that she loves Angel, and he
loves her; and that nothing could disrupt that, especially some strange
woman, calling her house. Nothing, except themselves.

Buffy sat on the couch reading a book, Willow had left about an hour ago, so
she had nothing to do except sit back, and relax; while waiting for Angel to
come home. She wanted Angel to tell her she was crazy, kiss her and make it
better. All these scenarios were running through her mind and couldn't make
sense of it. Buffy trusted Angel, and he knew that he loved her deeply, he
showed her everyday. Remembering the passionate love, and intimacy the hared
the night before, and that morning should put all doubts out of her mind, but
when Buffy replayed the sound of Kate's voice, curiosity would resurface.
Did this woman not know that he was taken, that Angel belonged to her, and no
one else; or was it Angel who forgot? Buffy came out of her deep thoughts,
when Angel walked though the door.

Angel smiled at her and walked over toward her, he leaned down to give Buffy
a kiss, she returned it, but not with the usual fire; automatically Angel
knew something was wrong; he could feel it. "What's wrong?"

Buffy looked him in the eyes. "Whose Kate?"

Angel gave her a confused look, "She's a friend, why?"

"A friend, what kind of friend?"

Reaching for her hand. "What's with all the questions?"

Buffy pulled away, and walked to the answering machine, pressing playback.
Kate's voice surrounded the room, while the message played Angel's face
became clear.

When the message ended, Angel looked at Buffy; who had her arms crossed,
expecting an explanation. "Buffy....Kate is a detective, I helped her with a
case, by getting some information for her."

"Really?"

Angel walked toward her. "Yes, really. I know how it sounds but it's not
what your thinking."

"How do you know what I'm thinking?"

"You wouldn't be asking all these questions if the thought hadn't crossed
your mind." Angel said, rationally, this conversation was starting to get
heated, and Buffy was doing what anyone would do to find out the truth; even
himself.

Buffy breathed a sigh, trying to calm down, more scenarios was running
through her mind, but looking into Angel's eyes told her they were nonsense.
He loved her and only her, and no bitch was going to change that. "I'm
sorry. It's just when I heard her voice, I couldn't stop these thoughts from
running through my head."

"I know what you mean, you don't have to apologize. I would do the same
thing, and you know how jealous I get." Angel said chuckling.

Buffy pulled him into a fierce hug, she need him to hold her, not for
reassurance, but comfort. The hug became more, when Angel began kissing
behind her ear, Buffy tilted her head, to give him better access. She began
stroking the back of his neck, just the way he liked it, Buffy started to
roam her hands down his back until the phone rang. The lovers pulled away for
a second, before deciding to let the machine get it........

*Beep*

"Angel, it's Kate again, I was hoping you could..............."

"Hello, Kate, this is Buffy. Angel's girlfriend, he's a little busy with his
hands stroking my body, why don't you call someone else, thank you, bye-bye."
Buffy slammed down the phone receiver, and turned her attention to Angel.
"Now where were we."

Angel smirked. "My hands were stroking your body." He said, walking
stealthily towards her.

"Oh, yeah."
