SISTER ACT

by Pamela

"I'm pregnant."

Buffy's eyes opened wide. "You're what?!"

Giles beamed, answering for his wife. "She's pregnant!"

"You guys got married two weeks ago! You move fast!" Buffy exclaimed, still not believing what she was hearing.

Joyce grinned. "Actually I'm two months pregnant, apparently we conceived on the night we had that band candy."

"On top of a police car." Buffy replied dryly.

Joyce giggled. "I know! The hood of a police car! What a story to tell!"

"One which I would suggest you not tell to… junior." Buffy replied, gesturing to her mother's stomach.

Joyce grinned and placed a hand on her stomach. Giles smiled over at her and then looked at Buffy apprehensively. "How do you feel about this Buffy?"

As they both looked at her expectantly, Buffy searched her mind for an answer. She wanted to scream, cry, and tell them to knock it off. She wanted to tell them that this was *her* house and she was the kid and that was it. She wanted her mom to hug her and assure her that they weren't pushing her out; that it wouldn't be Joyce, Giles, and their baby, it would be Joyce, Giles, Buffy, and the baby. But they looked so happy about this baby, if she said how she really felt she would break their hearts. So she forced herself to smile as best she could.

"That's great! I always wanted to be a big sister!"

Joyce grinned again and hugged Buffy. "I told you not to worry Rupert!"

Giles just smiled in relief at his stepdaughter.

"Now Buffy, I want you to know that I am still going to be helping you plan the wedding. I still want to meet with Willow and Cordelia tomorrow."

Buffy nodded. "You got it."

"Okay, and you can go ahead and tell them about the baby, I am terrible at keeping such exciting this secret you know!" Joyce told her excitedly. "I remember how I was when I got pregnant with you; I wore maternity clothes at two months just so I could show everyone!"

Buffy felt even more awful. Her mother was so happy. Giles was so happy. He deserved some happiness after Jenny. Why couldn't she be happy?

They heard someone beep their horn outside. Buffy turned and grabbed her coat and purse off the coffee table.

"That's Cordelia, I gotta go!"

"Okay, have fun Sweetie. And be careful!" Joyce called to her daughter.

"I will. Bye!" Buffy called over her shoulder as she left the living room and headed to the front door.

Giles followed her and caught her shoulder. Buffy turned and looked at him, surprised. He looked back and saw Joyce had gone into the kitchen.

"How do you really feel about this Buffy?" He asked, concerned, "It's okay to tell me the truth."

"Excited." Buffy lied. "Like I said, I always wanted to be a big sister."

"You sure?"

"Mmm hmm."

The horn honked again.

"I really better go."

"Okay, we'll see you later Buffy."

Buffy smiled briefly, rushed out the door, and hopped into Cordy's Stratus.

Cordelia and Xander looked at her in the backseat like she was a small child and they were her scolding parents.

"What took you so long?" Cordy asked.

Xander added. "We were worried."

"Oh, you know, parental talk, yadda yadda yadda." Buffy answered quietly.

"Yeah, you must get a lot of those now with Giles around! Boy can he lecture! And half the time you don't even know what he's saying!" Cordelia said as she pulled away from the curb and drove down the street to the Bronze.

"Is he making you totally wacky?" Xander asked.

"No, actually, he's pretty cool. I think he's being careful not to overstep his bounds."

Cordelia slammed on the brakes, narrowly missing rear-ending the car in front of them. She soon began a tirade about stupid other people and Xander began his own about not wanting to die in a horrible car accident. Buffy felt relieved that they became more absorbed in their rants and not in her. She didn't want to believe she was going to have a younger brother or sister that was 18 years younger, how was she supposed to tell others?

"I can't believe Angel let's you sit here alone like a total loser!" Cordelia exclaimed as she, Willow, and Buffy sat at a table at the Bronze. Oz was performing and Xander was in the bathroom.

"They were having an auction at some estate in Santa Barbara. Angel said he'd be here by nine." Buffy shouted over the music. "That gives him fifteen minutes."

The song ended and a much slower, quieter one began. Xander came back to the table and he and Cordelia headed off to dance.

"So how was your first week as a new family?" Willow asked.

"Fine."

"Tell me the truth, if you have to pick a husband for your mom, and not your dad, wouldn't you pick Giles? You know that he is a good man, he'll love her, and he already loves you. I know both of you are to stubborn to admit it, but Giles and you had a father/daughter thing going a long time ago."

"I know."

"Then what's wrong? Are you worried your mom won't love you as much? Trust me Buffy, your mom isn't going to love Giles more than you. You're her daughter, kids always get the biggest part of their parent's hearts."

"I know that too; and Willow, as selfish and immature as it is, I don't want to share my piece of her heart."

Willow furrowed her brows. "What's going on? Are Giles and your mom; planning on having kids or something?"

Buffy smiled weakly. "You could say that."

"Is that what you're upset about? Oh Buffy, your mom won't love a baby more than you, she'll love it just as much. Besides, it's not like she can have a baby tomorrow; you have plenty of time to get used to the idea. I could take years!"

"I have nine months. Actually, I only have seven now."

"What?!"

"My mom is pregnant."

"No way!" Willow gasped.

"Way." Buffy replied.

"Way what?" Xander asked as he and Cordelia approached the table.

"Mrs. Summers...no…Mrs. Giles….what name does she go by? Ohh...Buffy's mom is pregnant!" Willow exclaimed.

Buffy shot her a look. Willow could never keep a secret!

Xander put his hand on Buffy's shoulder. "I feel your pain Buff, and I want you to know if you ever need someone to talk to or hug you or lay half naked- or completely naked- in a bed with you, just call me. Day or night, I'll be there."

Cordelia smacked in the back of his head hard. "Knock it off Xander!"

"Oww!" Xander shrieked like a woman, then sat in the seat next to Willow.

"That's cool, Buffy. Don't worry, I'll make sure the nitwits don't make fun of you when they find out your mom not only married the creepy librarian, but is carrying his love child." Cordelia told her cheerfully, taking the seat next to Buffy. "So how pregnant is she?"

"Cordy, everyone knows you can't just be half pregnant or a third pregnant or anything, you are fully pregnant or not pregnant at all!" Xander said, completely serious, then looked over at Willow. "Right?"

The three girls rolled their eyes. "I meant, how long has she been pregnant you imbecile!"

"She's about 2 months pregnant."

"So she probably got pregnant when they were under the influence of the candy?" Willow asked.

"That's what they say." Buffy replied.

"Just think, most couples just have their child's birth on video, but they have the impregnation caught on tape too!" Xander quipped, this time Willow smacked him in the back of the head.

"You know, I'm just not in party mode, I think I'm going to wait out front for Angel and have him take me home." Buffy said, standing up and pulling her coat off the back of the chair.

"See what you did?" Cordelia snapped at Xander.

"No, it's not him, I just have a lot to think about." Buffy told them, smiling weakly again. She realized she was getting good at these fake smiles. "I'll see you two tomorrow, right?"

"Yeah, I'm picking Willow up and we'll be at your place at ten." Cordy replied. Buffy soon said her good-byes and was relieved to be alone at last outside the Bronze. She almost wished Angel would be late so she could just sit peacefully for a while. She didn't have to pretend to be happy about things that freaked her out when she was alone.

A moment later when Angel walked up to her she realized she could be honest with him.

"Buff, why are you standing out here?" He asked, concerned.

Buffy didn't answer, she just walked up to him and hugged him tightly, burying her face in his neck. "Take me home?"

"Sure." He replied, he was getting really worried about her.

He walked her back to his car and helped her in the passenger seat. As he got in and started the engine, Buffy touched his arm.

"I meant your apartment, not my house, okay?"

Angel saw the look in her eyes, telling him that it was important they could be alone. He nodded and headed towards his place.

They walked in and Buffy took off her coat. She threw it on the floor and wrapped her arms around his neck again, this time pulling him down for a kiss. Angel kissed her back for a moment, then built up enough self-control to pull away. Something was going on and he was pretty sure he didn't like it. He pulled Buffy's arms from around his neck, holding her wrists tightly.

"Buffy, what is happening?"

Buffy was near tears. "I want… I want you to make love to me!"

Buffy tried to hug him but he held her wrists down. "Would you stop it?! We need to talk!"

"Ow, you're hurting me!" Buffy cried out.

Angel immediately released her and Buffy backed away, letting the tears stream down her face.

"Buffy please, tell me what's wrong!" He begged.

Buffy slumped down to the floor, sitting Indian style in the middle of Angel's living room. Angel sat down across from her, at arm's reach.

"My mom, she's pregnant! And I want so bad to be happy like everyone else, but I can't! This is all so hard! I'm trying Angel, I really am! I've almost adjusted to the living with Giles thing, no more darting to the bathroom in my underwear and all that. But now they spring this on me! And I know it's not their fault, but I'm still just freaking out! And I'm scared! I'm going to be moving out in a few months, I'll get married and live with you; and this baby will be Giles' only child, and it'll be my mom's too! They'll have a child together and me…. I'll be like her Thanksgiving leftovers! You make hot turkey sandwiches, salads, and everything until you'll do anything to get rid of it! How can she make a fresh start if she has baggage like me around?"

Angel pulled her into his lap, rocking her. "Baby your mother loves you. Giles loves you. I doubt that if you were his blood daughter he could love you any more than he already does. I think that if they are happy and excited about this baby it's because they see you and are hoping and praying they'll be lucky enough for it to be someone like you!"

Buffy laughed through her tears. "How do you always know the best thing to say?"

Angel lifted her chin. "I love you."

"I love you too." She replied, kissing him softly on the lips.

Their soft kisses soon because harder, deeper, more demanding. Buffy found Angel carrying her over to the bed, gently laying her out as he removed his clothing. When he was nude, he lay beside her and helped her get her clothes off as well.

Angel started kissing Buffy's body, moving his head towards her moist center, when Buffy grabbed his head and forced him to look at her.

"Please Angel, just be inside me now? I need to feel you inside me, I need to feel you love me.."

Angels shushed her, by covering her lips with his own. He gently spread her thighs apart, which Buffy wrapped around his waist. He guided his erection inside her warm passage, stretching and filling her where no other man had. He started moving slowly inside her, kissing her lips and the rest of her face and reassuring her that he did indeed love her more than anything did. Buffy tightened her legs around him, pulling him tighter to her. Angel couldn't resist thrusting harder.

Buffy cried out in ecstasy, her waves of orgasm washing over her. When she had come back to earth, she began pushing her hips up to meet Angel's thrusts, granting him access to slide even deeper inside her.

Angel soon found it all to be too much and exploded inside her with a shout. Feeling his release, Buffy found herself slipping over the edge once more. Angel collapsed on the bed next to Buffy, who rolled over that her head rested on his chest.

"Thank you." She said softly. "That was wonderful."

Angel smiled sadly at her. "I love making love to you. It feels like the most natural thing I have ever done. I think I was made for it."

Buffy smiled. "You're going to make me go home soon, aren't you?"

Angel kissed her forehead. "Yes I am. You know, despite whatever you may think, your mother adores you."

"Have I ever said I hate when you're reasonable?"

"I think you may have mentioned it once or twice." Angel replied, grinning.

The couple kissed once more, then Angel made Buffy dress and he took her to her home, the place where two people loved and cherished her greatly, whether she realized it or not.
