THAT BIG QUESTION… NO NOT THAT ONE, THE OTHER ONE

Never in all of his years, had Angel loved some one so much. Never in all of his years, did he know the kind of love that Buffy had given him. If he was so sure about that, then why was this one question so hard to ask? All she had to say was yes or no. That wasn’t too much, was it? What if she said no? What if she said yes? What would he do? He felt like he was a teenage boy asking a girl out on a date for the first time. He couldn’t believe himself. Once known as Angelus, the Scourge of Europe, he was feared in the eyes and minds of many. But know, here, he feared a girl. True this was no ordinary girl, but he felt like a child. Sucking in an unneeded breath, he marched out the door of his home and made his way over to Buffy’s.

Buffy didn’t know where she was going. All she knew was that Angel had asked her to wear a black dress. She knew that they were going out for dinner, but where was a mystery. It was now 7:00 p.m., and just as Angel promised, he was there waiting for her to come down the stairs. At the sight of each other, they both gasped.

Buffy looked very exquisite in her black dress and black platform shoes that strapped around her ankles. She had piled her hair up on her head so that what was left hanging was golden ringlets. Angel looked just as handsome. He had bought himself a black tux and black silk shirt. They looked like a fine couple.

Finding his voice, Angel asked, "Is my lady ready?"

"It all depends on where we are going."

"It’s a surprise. I refuse to tell you."

"Will I like it?"

"Yeah, I promise." With that, Angel took Buffy’s hand and led her outside to the black mustang he had bought. He knew Buffy had liked the car the minute he heard her intake of breath. "You like?"

"It’s awesome. Did you rent it?"

"No, I bought it. That way, I can take you everywhere in style, and we don’t have to walk all the time. Just sometimes."

Buffy walked up to the car and touched the hood. It was almost like she thought that it would disappear. Angel held the passenger door open for her, and after making sure she was comfortable, took his place behind the wheel. They backed out of the driveway, and were now headed toward their destination, wherever that may be.

Buffy and Angel were now seated in The Olive Garden just outside Sunnydale. After they had ordered and eaten their dinner, they talked while they waited for dessert. Now, do it now, Angel thought.

"Ahh… Buffy?"

"Yes, Angel?"

"I was… ah… wondering… what I mean to ask is… Iloveyousomuchwillyoumoveinwithme?"

"What? I didn’t understand what you said Angel."

Angel took a deep breath. "In all of my life or lack there of, I have never met someone as special as you. You showed me so much. You made everyday worth living. Buffy, I love you, and what I was trying to ask is will you move in with me?"

"Oh, yes, Angel, I would love to. But what about my mother? I know she wouldn’t like the idea of us living together. It would just be too much, it’s amazing that she consents to us dating."

"I already asked her. She said it was fine, that is after she made threats and stuff if I ever hurt you."

"Wow. She’s being really cool about this. This is so great!"

"I know. I love you."

"And, I, sir, love you." She leaned forward to place a gentle kiss on Angel’s lips. They parted and just stared into each other’s eyes until the dessert came.

It was midnight when Angel dropped Buffy off at home. He walked her up to the door, kissed her, and was about to leave when Buffy said, "You know, my mom is out of town this week." She smiled to him a mischievous smile.

"So you would probably be lonely, huh?" He asked as he moved closer to her.

"Uh huh. And I would need someone to keep me company," their lips were inches from touching. "Feel up to it?"

"Of course." He leaned down to kiss her, but was pushed away by Buffy as she rushed into the house and yelled behind her, "Last one to the bedroom is a rotten egg!"

Using his vampire speed, he caught her midway up the stairs, and picked her up, carrying her to the bedroom and shutting the door.
